The fine print

Terms of service

Last updated: 2026-05-05. Boilerplate to start — we'll tighten this up before any paid features launch.

The deal

Backlog Squisher (“the service”) is a free, gamified video-game backlog tracker. By signing in you agree to these terms. If you disagree, don't use the service — no hard feelings.

Your account

You're responsible for activity under your account. Pick a username that isn't impersonating someone else, and don't share your sign-in. Don't do anything with your account that you wouldn't want the rest of the gaming community to see.

What you put in

Notes, ratings, and other content you create stay yours. By posting them you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide license to host and display them as needed to run the service. We won't use your content for training models or any purpose unrelated to running the app.

Game data

Game metadata comes from IGDB and is subject to their terms. Cover art is property of the respective game publishers. We're fans, not the rightsholders.

Acceptable use

  • No scraping the API or hammering endpoints to abuse.
  • No harassment, hate speech, or impersonation.
  • No attempts to break, exploit, or reverse the service in ways that affect other users.
  • No spam in submissions, friend requests, or anywhere else.

We can suspend or remove accounts that don't play nice. You can always export your data or close your account from /settings.

Free tier & future paid plans

Right now the whole product is free with no caps. If we launch a Pro tier later, the free tier stays usable — we'll never retroactively wall off something you already had.

No warranty

The service is provided “as is.” XP totals, streaks, leaderboards — we do our best, but we can't guarantee zero bugs, zero downtime, or that your data will survive every disaster scenario. Export regularly if you care deeply about your stats.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent allowed by law, we're not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service. Our total liability won't exceed what you paid us in the last 12 months — and right now that's zero.

Changes

We may update these terms. Material changes will be flagged in-app. Continuing to use the service after a change is your acceptance.
